New Mexico Behavioral Health Services Division is addressing the state’s opioid epidemic through a variety of evidence-based programs aimed at prevention, treatment and recovery.

One of the key strategies is the “Dose of Reality” outreach campaign. The aggressive and award-winning campaign includes one-stop information and interactive resource website, on-going advertisement and a highly successful social media campaign focused on peer to peer discussion and engagement.

The campaign has focused on teens, access to the life-saving drug, Naloxone and Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder. Collaboration with a host of other hosts of collaborators that include Department of Health, University of New Mexico, counties, municipalities, etc. has been a cornerstone of the program through an advisory panel of recipients receiving SAMHSA grants.
